Stepping forward for safety, health, and community solidarity across our borough’s vibrant neighborhoods.
Stepping Forward for Safety, Health, and Community Solidarity.
At High Hopes For The Bronx Inc., we aim to make walking fun and accessible to everyone throughout the Bronx by fostering group organizing tactics to encourage community walking social groups. We offer free walking programs led directly by local community members because those who power their communities know them best.
These ongoing events allow Bronx residents to safely walk (or roll), learn about neighborhood resources, and meet new neighbors. Driven by our community-building model, "creando comunidad," these groups turn a simple walk into a powerful shared experience that fosters deep local connection and belonging across our borough's vibrant neighborhoods. Ultimately, we believe that "Walking through your community gives you a clear vision" not just of your personal health, but of the strong, supportive Bronx network around you.
Our community keeps us afloat when times are tough. Our Social Walking Hubs bring neighbors, professionals, and youth together for scheduled walks that build community safety and solidarity. Step out with us, meet local resource captains, and become a part of the movement.
Why We Walk the Bronx
We walk to reclaim physical well-being and combat systemic health disparities across the Bronx. By making physical activity a social, community-led intervention, we reduce the risk of chronic disease and build long-term bodily resilience.
We use the simple act of walking to break down isolation, bridge generations, and build deep neighborhood belonging. Bringing youth, professionals, and families together on the pavement transforms our streets into an active support system for mental and social health.
Every walk is an opportunity to audit our streets, claim public spaces, and connect residents to vital life-sustaining resources. Peer-led Resource Captains help deliver bilingual city tools directly along our routes while making neighborhoods visibly safer.
